Tips to Help You Choose a Construction Company?

Are you looking to hire a construction company? Have you heard horror stories of contractors not showing up, leaving before the work is done, using the wrong materials and holding up the job and just plain being disrespectful? Well, chances are the people that are telling you these horror stories didn’t use these tips to find a reliable, reputable contractor.

There are many different things you can do to help choose the right contractor for the job. And just because a contractor is reliable and respectful and has good reviews doesn’t mean he is the right fit for you project. Here are 5 tips to help you choose a contractor for the project you are working on.

  1. The first and most important thing on the list is to research and make sure any contractors you find are licensed for what your project entails. For example, in Naples Florida, you can hire a handyman for small tasks around the job but you cant use the handyman for anything structural. If you are moving any walls or plumbing you would need a company that is licensed to do structural work. There are a few different types of licenses that allow the contractor to do this but for this article, we will use CGC ( Certified General Contractor) A CGC is unlimited in the scope of work he can oversee. This doesn’t mean that he can do everything but he can hire people to help him with those licenses. Also if a contractor tells you you shouldn’t pull a permit and you know that you need one, That is a very bad sign and screams shady contractor.
  2. Check to make sure the contractor has no complaints against him. Every state is different in how you go about checking.
